HostPapa Review 2022: Value For Money (Reliable Hosting or Not)?

Hello, dear readers, welcome to Freedombizmachine! Today we are going to take a look at a web hosting company founded in 2006, HostPapa is an independent Canadian web hosting company and one of the pioneers in the so-called green hosting. HostPapa hosts over half a million websites and offers a wide range of hosting solutions, from shared servers to VPS servers to email account hosting.

Who is HostPapa for?

I’m well aware that choosing a web hosting company is no easy task, especially when you’re just starting out, as there are so many hosting companies to choose from. Should you opt for a well-known company, such as: BlueHost, Hostgator or Hostinger.

Or go for a lesser-known company such as HostPapa, as it has only been on the market since 2006 and that’s what we’re talking about today.

In this article, HostPapa, based in Canada but with servers in the United States, Canada and France.

HostPapa presents itself as a web hosting company for small and medium sized businesses. In fact, shared hosting prices are low enough to be accessible to anyone who needs to create a website. The big question, however, is whether HostPapa is the right choice for your business or not, so to help you make your decision, I’ve evaluated it for you on its reliability, features, value for money and performance including how long it takes to load a website on a HostPapa server.

Hostpapa

Reliability and performance.

HostPapa’s load time is quite similar to other hosting services we’ve already tested like Hostinger at 99.99%. And HostPapa is around 99.97%. That’s a very good number. It’s impossible to expect a hosting company to have a 100% load time, because obviously, updates and maintenance are quite frequent.

Nevertheless, you want a host that offers a loading time as close to perfection as possible, HostPapa is not far off! This load time corresponds to two/three hours of downtime per year, which is an excellent figure and offers a high level of reliability, which can be enough to run a blog or a showcase site.

The features

HostPapa’s basic web hosting plan, which they call starter, uses the standard mix of features you’ll find everywhere plus a few surprises.

This offer includes, one website, Free domain registration, Free standard SSL certificate, 100GB of SSD webspace, 100 email addresses, Unmetered bandwidth, Website builder (Novice), All essential features and 24/7 support and a 30-day money back guarantee.

  1. Easy to sign up: No difficulty to sign up with HostPapa
  2. Payment Methods: You can pay your purchases with your Credit Card, Paypal.
  3. Fees and hidden clauses: The advertised price is only for the first year.
  4. Refund: You will be charged a $29.95 processing fee if you use their 30-day refund policy.

Tips: Some upsells are automatically added, so don’t forget to uncheck the default options added to your cart when you choose the basic offers.

Customer Support

If you need simple help or more advanced assistance, web host HostPapa offers live chat and 24/7 phone support. If it’s a problem with your server, however, HostPapa has a network status page that highlights any ongoing issues at the moment. The page also lists any scheduled maintenance that’s coming up.

HostPapa value for money

Whether it’s for the Starter, Business or Business Pro versions of hosting HostPapa manages to keep everyone happy without any nasty surprises. You can’t blame it for the price-quality ratio, it should be noted that this company is young on the market and that it manages to compete with the biggest!

However, there is a little taste of “can do better”. Sure, it’s not always easy to innovate effectively, but HostPapa is doing what it takes.

HostPapa’s pricing ranges from $3.95 per month, all the way up to $20.00 per month for the pro plan “No Promo Pricing.”

The commitment can go up to $22.00 per month for the pro level, if you are interested in VPS hosting, there are five different price levels, ranging from $50.00 per month, up to $300.00 per month. “Pricing without promotion.”

In conclusion, HostPapa offers very good packages and value for money, especially for the lower rates. The downside is that you have to commit for several years to get the best price possible, although this is not an unusual practice in the hosting world, so it doesn’t have the most comprehensive packages either at other providers like Hostgator, Bluehost and SiteGround.
